BOARDING

I wanted to let you know that Shannon and I have been nothing short of thrilled with the care you and the team provide Bella and Macy while we are out of town. They come home happy, healthy, and best of all tired! I cannot begin to tell you how impressed we are with the care our dogs receive at Country Lane. We have never been more comfortable leaving them and we have the utmost trust in you and your team. Mary is always great with follow ups and gives detailed updates on how the girls are doing while they enjoy their stay. As I said earlier, we could not be happier with all you do. We will continue to recommend Country Lane to all of our family, friends, and colleagues. Your team is GREAT. Thank you again for all you have done for our girls.

Our experience was above and beyond what we expected. The owner and staff are to be commended. One of our two dogs to be boarded had been diagnosed with lung cancer days prior to our trip and we were not ready to put him down or cancel our trip. Country lane went far above and beyond what was expected and they administered medications to our sick shepherd. They also fed Alex cheese to get him to take his medication. It is obvious upon meeting and through subsequent interactions with the owner and staff that they are truly animal lovers and take good care of the pets that reside there. We will surely be returning when we need their services again.

Thanks again,

Rich and Margarita Audette

I want to send you a "Thank You" for taking care of Indy while we were out of town. Hopefully his next day in June, he will be a little better adjusted. I feel very comfortable with him staying at your "resort". Everyone there seems genuinely concerned about the animals and about Indy. I feel that all the dogs get personalized attention and that makes a pet owner at ease. It is not like the animal can tell you if something is wrong. Well, they can in some ways. It was very nice that Indy stayed in the office while he waited for us to arrive. Thank you for accommodating us since we were a little late. I greatly appreciate it.

Enclosed is a picture of Lucy in one of her beds. She is napping after I walked her this morning, and I have to say that your exercise regimen seemed to put some zip in her step. I really appreciate the level of personal care that Lucy recieved during her stay. The staff at Country Lane really went above and beyond for my dog, who is indeed my best friend. Me and Lucy have been through alot together, I couldn't trust her even with any ol' body. She was a little confused going home, (she is pretty old after all) but once home she was back to her old antics.

Thanks again,

Brent and Susan Grubbs

Dear Randy,

I am writing on behalf of our corgi, Rhymney, who refuses to type his letters on a computer.

Thank you very much for taking such great care of him during our trip. As you know, he had never before spent overnight at a kennel in his 10 years, so we were a bit concerned. When we picked him up after a week with you he was clean, happy, and his normal self. He showed no signs of anxiety and returned to his old habits as soon as he got home.

The highly professional and caring philosophy you describe in your website understates the care you provide. My wife and I selected Country Lane because we liked the fact that you think of things from the dog's perspective. I think Rhymney would agree.

Jennifer and I are delighted by how you and your wonderful staff treated Rhymney, and us. It was very comforting to get word from you early in our trip that Rhymney was doing well. It made our vacation that much more relaxing. We are already thinking of more trips, so you will be seeing more of Rhymney in the future.

Thank you and very best to you and your staff,

- John Eck

Dear Randy and Staff,

Chester, Levi and Amelia Jane wish to say "Poochas Gracias" for the fantastic care they received at Country Lane -- and so do we.

It's always stressful to leave our babies, but we knew they were happy and well cared for in our absence. The fact that Chester was jumping up on you and Mary and giving both of you kisses is truly a testimonial. Chester is our "old curmudgeon," and he can be a bit stoic. He obviously was very happy at Country Lane.

Thanks for making our time away from our babies worry free and wonderfully fun for them.

- Nora, Eric, & Ben Rubinoff

I am so pleased I have a place where I can leave Loki and know both as an individual and as a representative of a breed, he will be treated as an individual of that breed. Speaking as Loki's "person", it was reassuring to know this. It was obvious when we reconnected, he had a great vacation with lots of dog interation and people contact. Both of which are so important in order for Loki to continue to be a well rounded, mannerly dog.

Thank you for operating a place where a dog can be a dog and enjoy a "spa" vacation.

- Sue Arnest

Thank you so much for the wonderful care Heidi got when she stayed with you. I never worry when I leave her with you, I know she is in very capable hands.

I do want to thank Mary for calling, after we got home, to let me know about Heidi and her nose. I had seen her nose and knew what happened, she's done this before. I told her she needs to keep her nose out of other people's business. I do appreciate Mary taking the time to call.

Thought you might like to know, I think she was missing all of you after she got home. She would not eat for almost 2 days and she kept looking around like she was looking for someone. Maybe that someone was the person that really spoils her, possibly Mary.......I Love it!! It is nice to know that she enjoys being with all of you. When we pull into your drive she is ready to jump out of the car, she knows where she's at. She loves being at "doggie camp".

Thanks again for the wonderful care and also for the thoughtful call to let us know what happened with her nose. Other than family, I will never leave her with anyone else. I have also recommended you to anyone that will listen. I know one neighbor has already contacted you. Another neighbor is the one that told me about you, good news travels fast and far. Keep up the good work!!

Aloha ~~ Carol Dunn & Heidi Lelani

Randy,

We want you to know that we appreciate the great care you and your staff have given Angelica when she stayed at Country Lane. [We call it her going to Doggie Camp] She has stayed with you for the last three times we've gone on vacation, and our vacations have been more enjoyable because we don't worry about her.[We miss her, but don't worry about her] We are so thankful we found Country Lane. We drive about one hour to get there and would gladly drive twice that far.

Thank You

Joanie and Dave Kramer

Randy, I just wanted to thank you for taking such good care of Rusty for 10 days in April. This was the first time we left him, and I have to say we were nervous about how he would do. The thought of him locked up in a cement run all day didn't appeal to me. I was so glad I talked to you and brough Rusty out for a 1-night trial run. I really liked how you are set up and how friendly everyone was. When we cam back for his real stay, he already knew the place. Everyone was great and I know that Rusty was very happy. He actually seemed sad to leave. We had to leave him for 2 nights recently at another kennel (short notice) and I could tell a big difference. He did not like this place at all and couldn't wait to leave! We will definitely be bringing Rusty back and know that he is in good hands!

Thanks,

Amy Johnson

Randy and CLPR Staff,

I must admit that I have always been impressed each and every time we've brought our Siberians to you, but this time really takes the cake. I feel that I care a great deal for my Huskies, but to be honest, I can't say that I'd run out to the store, buy a chicken and some rice and then cook them up a special meal because of one soft stool!!! ;-) I can't imagine any other kennel even noticing such a thing let alone doing anything about it. The care you have shown for my dogs has gone above and beyond what I could ever expect from any kennel. Misha and Tuvok are extremely fortunate to have such wonderful care near our home. Well, you're not exactly near our home, but an hour drive each way is well worth it in our opinion.

Your service, flexibility, responsibility, and most importantly, your care giving has always been the absolute most professional we've ever seen. We thank you for all of that. We thank you for all that you've done. We thank you for all that will continue to do for us and our dogs. You are truly astounding at what you do, and we can't thank you enough!

Jim & April Reffner, West Chester, OH

I need to begin with a quote that many of my friends have said one time or another… “Julie, we want to be Gloria (the Greyhound) in our next life. You treat that dog like it is human. Most humans don’t get the attention and love you give that dog of yours…”

We have had Gloria since she was one and a half. She turned five in January. Gloria has always stayed with wonderful friends of ours when we have had to go out of town. That’s a huge responsibility on their part… knowing that she can be “high maintenance!”

There comes a time in one’s life where you say to yourself, “this is a DOG…” “Why do we find it so hard to treat her like one?”

The turning point came in March, when our dear pet sitters were busy, and our teens we had used in the past had found a social life and no longer dog-sit.

WHAT DO WE DO?!! WE COULDN’T TAKE OUR DIVA ON VACATION WITH US? NOW COULD WE?! CRISIS!!! :-(

No, not really!

Through the doggie grapevine, I found out that 3 of my friends AND my vet LOVE Country Lane Pet Resorts. But how on earth could we expect our dog who is used to 6 miles’ worth of walks a day and a dog who sleeps on couches and beds, go to a kennel? No way!! Our dog is used to TLC 24/7 and a kennel could never take our place with all of the love, attention, and comfort we give our pup… or could it?

Country Lane proved us wrong. Gloria did just fine! As a matter of fact, she did WONDERFULLY! How do I know? Two huge reasons: (1) When I picked her up, she was more excited to see her care givers around the corner than me (no joke) (2) When she got home, she moped! No eye contact with any of us. I thought she would run around the house, wagging her tail. Nope! She missed Country Lane! (darn you guys! :-) )

Whatever Randy and his staff did with Gloria was more than I could hope for. Even when I called Randy the day after I dropped Gloria off (teary-eyed and worried), he reassured me that, “even though Gloria boycotted her food that night, she is slowly coming out of her shell and trusting us!”

Her tail couldn’t have been higher when I looked at her interaction with the staff as I picked her up this weekend.

Thank you so much for loving my dog and making her happy… it’s exactly what we both needed!!

Fondly,

Julie Dolbier

Hey Randy!

I just wanted to compliment you on the service we received at Country Lane. I have to admit that dropping Gracie off on Saturday was harder than I thought, I was a bit sad but knew that she was in good hands and we were making the right decision. Country Lane is located in a beautiful setting and you and your staff were great. It seemed as if you knew what was going on with each and every animal that were there.

I can call to check in on her from our honeymoon right?

Thanks again!

Katie Corbett

Boomer & Lady really did swell at your place last week.  NO problems when I brought them home.

When I picked them up after their overnight last week, it was evident that Lady was a lot more comfortable in her vacation surroundings.  Mary was so very nice and sweet with my pups.  Thank you all for all your caring and your generosity.  We will never, ever forget what you have done.

I called Dr. Clemmons radio show yesterday and cited your approach to acclimating my pups to your place.  Hearing an ad on the radio is one thing, but I wanted he and his listeners to hear a testimonial about how you handled a "skiddish" pup and your thoughtful approach in solving a problem.  Dr. Clemmons wasn't surprised as to how you handled this situation and said he will pass along my comments to you personally next time he talks with you.

Again, thank you and God Bless you for who and what you are.  You are a rare breed!

Warm regards,
Kathleen

From the first time we brough Tuck, our miniature schnauzer, to stay with you, we wre confident that he would be given the very best of care. We were even more pleased when we came the second time and he was happy to be there. They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but you were a "new trick" for him that he seemed to be happy to learn. Even though he has been gone almost two years, we still miss him very much.

Once again, congratulations on your award. We feel you earned and deserve it.

When I moved to Cincinnati 4 years ago...I discovered Country Lane by driving around and visiting many facilities. One stop at Country Lane and I was sold. I actually think I see a difference in Dazy when I pick her up from your place versus the others...and when I drop her off. She knows she is definitely among friends and gets all excited as we pull down the lane. Thank you so much for taking care of my little girl over the years...and we will definitely be back.

Burleigh and Kammie say thanks for a wonderful stay over Thanksgiving. I didn't worry one drop about the dogs while we were out of town, and I just wanted to say thanks for taking such good care of them in every way.

"You totally spoiled my dog. Our basset hound, Annie, is usually a lazy dog, but when she came home from her visit with you - she constantly expected to play. Grabbing her toys and wanting us to play - she no longer sits around like a couch potato (well, she still enjoys the couch for sleeping). Thanks for taking such great care of her."

Dear Randy and the whole gang at Country Lane,

It has been about three weeks since we finally left your place. I wanted to send you a note to say thank you. Moving across the country I was not able to take my whole gang of Weimeraners (four to be exact) with me while I started my job and putting my house up for sale in Cincinnati. Asking one of my family members to take all four during the transition was too much for them to handle. I began my search for somewhere that my babies could stay while I sold my old house and purchased a new home for us. My vet suggested your facility. I called and you immediately said, "Come out take a look." I came out with two of the dogs at your suggestion. We got there. Molly and Max (The M&M twins) took off for the yards and ran around to investigate. I got a great tour and you took about two hours answering all of my questions.

I called a couple of days later to sign up.

The attention was amazing. You wrote down all of their crazy traits and their demeanors. You understood that my boys were knuckleheads at times and would need to be monitored. I talked about Max's allergies and what to watch.

My guys ate a different food and you made arrangements to have it delivered there, so I would not have to worry about it. Even when we noticed a decrease in weight, you were right on top of it adding to their diet, with my consent.

Their shot records indicated that they were due for certain items while staying there and you took care of them immediately. You called when there were any questions and you kept in touch with my local vet for any concerns whatsoever. Max, my big guy, had some allergy issues flare up and you got him the right attention immediately.

Even more so, you put up with my frequent calling to check to see how they were doing. I even got pictures. (Which I put on my desk to keep my spirits up.)

During the three or more months they were there, I never had to worry about anyone escaping because of the yards and the fencing. My gang was able to get plenty of exercise. Weims require so much run time and they got what they needed and then some.

Some people asked why I did not board them in New Jersey where I was staying. It was a very simple answer. You used the same resources I trusted. So I did not have to hunt for a new vet immediately.

I have recommended your great group of people to my friends. Many of them like the idea that you will come to pick up and drop off.

The day I came to get them... I could tell they were going to be missed by all of you!!!

Thank you again so much!!! I hope that I am able to find another place that will meet my expectations. You have raised the bar considerably!!!! If I ever move back, I will definitely use you again and again!

Love,

Bina

I wanted to comment again, how happy we were with the care Toffee & Simon received at Country Lane.  It nice that you and your staff take a genuine interest in the comfort and well being of the pets entrusted to your care specifically appreciated the following:

  • Fenced in running areas (important to Whippets) and scheduled exercise sessions

  • Wooded setting - No disturbing urban noises

  • Your staff takes the time to acclimate new arrivals to their environment

  • Dogs are housed according to their size

  • Experienced staff members who love and understand dogs (and ok, perhaps cats, too)

  • Your charges are all inclusive.  We didn't pay $5.00 every time our dogs drew a breath

  • Upon pickup, our dogs and their things were ready.

In  the past, we took Toffee to another facility and did not have the same satisfaction.   After picking Toffee up from her week stay, she acted withdrawn and looked thin.  What a contrast to our experience with Country Lane.  I will choose you again in the future.

I have been boarding my dog Abbie with Country Lane for over four years and I’ve always felt that Abbie was in good hands, but I had no idea how good.  When Abbie wasn’t acting like herself, barking and greeting the staff at the gate, Mary realized something was wrong.  She called me immediately and we discussed the problem.  Abbie has a history of small seizures and it looked like she’d had another one.   Randy called their vet and I called mine.  After several phone calls, we made the decision to see how she did overnight.  The next morning she wasn’t better, so we decided she needed to see the doctor.  Randy took her all the way to Blue Ash and checked her into the CARE Center hospital.

Randy stayed with her while the doctor examined her and then called me to give me an update.   Later the doctor told me that the attention that Abbie got from Randy, Mary, Ruth, Angie and the other staff at Country Lane really helped to keep her calm and relaxed.  After six days in the hospital Abbie got to come home and doing much better.

I don’t like being away from Abbie, especially if she is sick,  but it was very reassuring for me to know that Abbie stays with people who love and care about her.

"Thank you very much for taking great care of Macy during her recent stay with you. As you know, I was very nervous about leaving her while we were gone. Not only did my neighbor recommend your resort, but another friend as well. You and your staff made me feel so comfortable about letting Macy spend her time with you. This was a very positive first experience for Macy and her family. A job well done for the Country Lane staff!!! No doubt that she will be there again. Thanks again!!

"Thanks again for the excellent care you gave to our dog, Sky, during our three week vacation.  It was nice to be able to relax and enjoy our trip knowing that Sky was in such good hands.  Sky gets excited when he returns to Country Lane, and, judging by the number of dog kisses he gives when we leave, we know that he receives lots of love and attention there.  We feel lucky to have found such a great place for Sky's "vacations"."

"Cody, Copper, and Comet had a wonderful time.  I could tell.  Copper, who has the heart problems, came  home acting better than he has in quite a long time.  My husband said Copper just needed some "R & R", but I truly feel someone (or some"ones") there has a healing touch.  He had been coughing quite a lot, but since he's been home he coughs very little.  What a nice thing for him (and us, too).  Up until today, every time I went outside, Copper was on my heels.  He kept thinking maybe there was a chance he'd go back to Country Lane.

Well, all of them will be back.  They do have reservations for October and December.  And they'll have a great time then, too!"

"I can't say enough good things about Randy and his staff at Country Lane.  Before we found Country Lane, we avoided boarding our dogs at all costs.  Jerry, our year-old French Bulldog, is not only deaf, but has problems with fear and aggression -- especially when meeting new people!  Although Jerry had visited and met Randy before, he was upset from the long car ride in his crate the day I dropped him off for his boarding.  When I opened his crate, Jerry rushed out and nipped Randy's hand, making us very concerned about whether he would even be able to stay.

Instead of dismissing Jerry as a difficult dog, Randy and his staff dedicated themselves to giving Jerry a chance, and gained his trust within a day.  Their experience with and confidence around dogs made all the difference in giving Jerry a good stay, and one that really helped improve his "people skills."  By the second day, he was already giving Ruth kisses, and quickly developed a special bond with Charlene.  She wasn't the least bit intimidated by his behavior, and helped him feel more secure by giving him lots of attention and love.  Everyone made a strong effort to help Jerry adapt to being there, and it helped him settle in much sooner than he might have.

The fact that Randy and all his staff really understand pets, and treat them with the utmost kindness is what makes Country Lane so special.  They gave Jerry exposure to new people and dogs safely, which helped improve his behavior in ways we never could at home.  When I picked him up after 10 days, he was happy and calm.  Unlike so many kennels, which dogs often leave exhausted and with weight loss, Country Lane is good for pets.  Randy and his staff's willingness to consider each pet's needs individually, and give them as much care and attention as possible makes Country Lane unique and far superior to any other pet care facility or service."

"For dog lovers, this is the best place imaginable to board your dog.  During the Thanksgiving holiday week, we traveled to CT and had our dog "Riley" boarded at Country Lane for 8 days.  He has never been boarded before, and my wife words from home, so we feared that he would be lonely or resentful.  In making an appointment for his stay at Country Lane, I was relieved in knowing the kennel's owner really cared.  His words and voice over the phone were very enthusiastic.  When my wife dropped Riley off, the staff readily accepted our dog.  The kennel area was "spotless" and the grounds were very well taken care of.  He had his own pen that was about 20/30 feet, and was able to socialize with other dogs along the fence.  Dogs are kept separate, so there is no danger of harm from another dog.  This is not a kennel per se.  Country Lane is a "spa" for dogs.  This is the best kennel I have EVER come across, and the staff is A+."

"Living 45 minutes away, I did look for kennels closer to home though none compared to the quality of the facilities, large outdoor runs, and the love and care my Golden receives each visit."

"Randy always meets me at the car when I drop off my dogs Ruby and Darell.  He treats my pets as though they were his own.  To start my vacation knowing that my dogs are well cared for and happy goes a long way towards helping me have a relaxing trip.  My dogs start wagging their tails when we pull in the driveway.  Simply, Country Lane is like no other boarding facility.  It really is like a home away from home for your pets."

"Our concerns for boarding our formerly abused rescue dog have ended.  We gladly drive an extra 50 miles to Country Lane because we know when we return, our dog will be content and have been pampered from the excellent care and love.  Randy is the very best."

"We have three dogs all ranging from high energy to high maintenance.  Country Lane has always provided them everything to meet their diverse requirements and is very accommodating to our needs as owners.  It is nice to know that we can leave town and have peace of mind that their needs are met and our dogs are content.

"I recommend Country Lane wholeheartedly to all my fellow shelter volunteers--and when it comes to taking care of our dogs, we're about as particular as you can get!  I don't trust my boys to just anybody---especially Dasher, who was diagnosed last fall with a seizure disorder.  Randy and his crew go out of their way to keep Dasher on his regular medication routine and give me peace of mind that he will be well cared for while I'm away.  Dogs are keen at reading people's emotions, so I know my guys won't feel good about staying at a kennel unless I feel good about leaving them there.  All I can say is my boys' tails are always wagging when we turn into Country Lane!"

"Dear Randy and friendly staff,

I just picked up Kona after a week stay with you and I just want to thank you all for taking such good care of Kona.  It is so wonderful to be able to go on a vacation and not worry about my dog.  Since Kona has started staying at Country Lane, he comes home a happy dog (unlike at our previous kennel).  I really appreciate how you give special attention to Kona and let him accompany you all on your chores (since Kona is a "people" dog).  I also appreciate how you so willingly take care of Kon's special dietary needs (soaked food and green beans) and his various supplements and medication.  You all are great.  It is a pleasure to drop Kona off for his stay with you and go on vacation knowing he is safe, cared for, and loved!  And it is even more of a pleasure to pick up a tail-wagging, happy Kona and to hear and see how well he did.

Thank you for being there.  I will heartily recommend Country Lane Pet Resort to my dog-loving friends."

TRAINING

Graduates from an Advanced Training Class held at Country Lane Pet Resort celebrated their graduation at The Home of Bluebill Retrievers and took their Canine Good Citizen Test, CGC, which was given by Vicky Fairchild of Marjon Kennels, Batavia, Ohio. It was a beautiful day and we had lots of food and plenty of doggie fun. One of the students was so excited about the pond that he had to take a dip before the test and therefore had to have a little grooming before entering the ring. After they passed their CGC test we had "rain" along with dinner and everyone had to move indoors for the remainder of the evening. Below are pictures of the graduates.

Hi Randy!

I wanted to let you know what a great experience Mac and I had with Connie French's CGC training class at Country Lane. When we started the class, I had ownly had Mac about a month. We adopted him at age 3+ from a rescue group, a beautiful large german shepherd, and he had been abused and was very emaciated. He was extremely nervous and fearful, wouldn't let anyone but me touch him, and was ready to bolt out the door at any time.

After 8 weeks of work with Connie and Donna, he is a different dog. He passed the CGC test with flying colors. He allowed the tester, a stranger, to approach, pet, groom, touch his ears and feet. He stays on command for any length of time, did not startle with loud noises or distractions, can walk through a crowd, heels on a loose lead, and stayed with a stranger while I was out of sight for the required 3 minutes no problem. What an accomplishment for an abused and abandoned adult dog.

I attribute this change to the gentle and calm training that Connie and Donna provided, and the opportunity to spend non threatening time with other people and dogs. I consider him well socialized now, and look forward to some further training. I urge anyone who would like a well balanced dog that can be taken into any social situations to take this class with Connie.

Thank you for providing a great facility, and staff, for our classes.

- Linda Poynter, and Mac

Randy, I wanted to let you how much Eddie and I enjoyed and benfitted from the Canine Good Citizen Class that was run by Connie and Donna. Eddie came out more well behaved and obedient I really appreciated the one-on-one instruction that was available from the instructors and they obviously took a personal interest in their students. It was great.

My husband Jim & I just finished an 8 week session with Ruth for our Australian Shepherd puppies Scout and Ranger.

Ruth's love of animals and her expertise were evident from our first meeting.  We had signed up for the class a week late, and she came to our house to meet our puppies and introduce us to the program.  That was an unexpected and much appreciated gesture.

Ruth has the ability to relate to the dog owner, how dogs process information, and what is the most optimum way to get the behavior that we want to insure a healthy and happy relationship between puppy and owner.

Our puppies did very well learning basic commands, and I feel that we have a solid foundation that will enable these active pups to become a great addition to our canine family.  Our puppies loved the time they spent with Ruth, and began to get excited during the car ride to class.

I would highly recommend any class that Ruth teaches, as I know that her love of animals and extensive knowledge are an asset to any pet owner.

Scout & Ranger say Thank You, Woof Woof (especially for the goody bag), & Jim & Lisa thank you too.

"I feel very fortunate to have found Country Lane Pet Resort, not only because of the wonderful experience my dog has had at the resort and with the staff since she was a puppy, but also because of the training that she received from staff member, Ruth Gelter.  Star and I first went to Ruth when Star was only three months old.  Star is a German shepherd and very smart.  I knew, though, that she might also be hard to handle if I didn't expose her to the basics of obedience as early as possible in her development.  After working with Ruth for just a few sessions, Star knew all of the important commands and was responsive to them.  Better yet, I got excellent training as well, and knew what to do when Star decided she didn't want to pay attention to those commands, or wanted to make a game of it.  I would recommend Country Lane and Ruth to anyone who is interested not only in the best in boarding facilities, but also in a trainer who is compassionate, knowledgeable and makes learning fun for both the owner and the dog."

"Ruth trained our dog when we first owned him.  She has a unique ability to communicate with our dog, and has trained us to communicate with him.  She has also been available to discuss behaviors that may have arisen since that time, and coach us on how best to respond to what our dog is saying to us.  I believe that we have a wonderful pet who is truly a member of our family because of the guidance Ruth gave us."
